Global JIT retail Giant stumbles again!

Yup you guessed it, My favorite big box store has shown me further deterioration of the global JIT and their attempts to deal with it so that the shopper does not even realize it.

I noticed it first in Indiana at the store we actually shop at the most, I noticed it again in Oklahoma at the store we shop at almost as much as Indiana. My wife noticed it in Alabama.

The symptoms.

Many of the already spread out shelf rows are now 4 ft shorter in length making the aisles even wider. In a typical set up, there is one wide open aisle between the cash register row and the products for sale. There is another between the food section and the household articles, one separating the toys, tools, auto, and sporting goods from the cloths etc., and one across the back of the store from side to side excepting the food area. Those aisles are usually filled with palletized instant display goods, and still have lots of open space.

We do not move households, only industrial, museum, government loads. The customer I am working for now is a years long steady customer who booked the load suddenly this morning when he realized I was empty in the area.

Tonight I am sitting half loaded in a ghost town, a 10 block by 20 block office complex. I am in Irvine California.

Self sufficiency is a myth...

I see lot's of discussion of Doomesteads and how to survive the coming Zombie Hordes, but let's think a minute. Unless you are situated in the farthest reaches of wilderness, the chances are almost NONE that you will be alone or confronted by Zombie Hordes out to loot your doomstead.

So what does a crashing world economy and peak oil brought about collapse of the status quo really mean?

To plan for the future, you must first study the past. Oh yes you can tell me about Christmas Island, but the situation there is without parallel here unless as I stated before you are in the farthest reaches of wilderness. So what can we learn from past collapses of order.. ( yes we are talking a collapse of order).

As the global economy ( really an attempt at global rule disguised as trade and economic activity) collapses, you the reader will not likely find yourself in a chaos state, as each level of government is lost or overturned, a more localized government will be standing in power waiting...
